OFI honors Wiliam A. Tomey The OFI Award 2007 was presented yesterday by the president of the Ornamental Fish International to Mr. Wim Tomey, the well known authority on ornamental fish.
The OFI award was launched in 2005 in Singapore to honor people, companies or organizations who have contributed to the good of the ornamental aquatic industry. Yesterday, at a reception at Aquarama 2007, president of OFI, Dr. Gerald Bassleer handed Mr. William A. Tomey the award for his exemplary work in all sectors of this industry. Mr. Tomey has for over 30 years successfully consulted and assisted governments, institutions, companies, hobby associations and private individuals. He has had a hand in developing export facilities and commercial breeding centers for ornamental fish utilizing biological technical know-how as well as marketing strategies and educational programs. His work has also extended to aquatic plants, terrarium animals and insects. Mr. Tomeys work has carried him to many countries in South-East and South Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. He has lectured and authored numerous articles and books on aquaristics and terrariums.
