As many as 95 percent of Slovaks have never shopped on the Internet
Bratislava, August 4th, 2005 Following the findings of the survey conducted in June this year on the sample of 1000 respondents by GfK Slovakia, not less than 95% of the inhabitants of Slovakia have no first hand personal experience with shopping on the Internet. Only 3.1% of Slovaks have made use of the opportunity to purchase goods and services online. Dynamic lifestyle of the inhabitants, high level of internetisation, and sufficiently mature virtual market of goods and services are the factors, which support the current phenomenon of shopping on the Internet in well-developed countries. In Germany it is almost one half of the inhabitants who are currently using the Internet for shopping; it results from the findings of the survey carried out in January and February this year by ENIGMA GfK. Currently it is therefore more than 25 million Germans what represents more than 46 % of the total German population at the ages of 14 to 69. Unfortunately, only a very small percentage of population makes use of the advantages and convenience connected with this manner of shopping or ordering services in Slovakia. According to the findings of the latest survey of GfK Slovakia, 5% of Slovaks have made use of the possibility to do their shopping on the Internet at least once. Less than 1% of the Slovak population older than 15 uses this possibility "often". www.gfk.sk
